Promotion of the book “Kompozitor Bojan Adamic in Albania” on February 8, 2024 in Tirana, Albania

The book in Albanian, entitled Kompozitor Bojan Adamic in Albania, will be promoted on the special event on February 8, 2024 in the foyer at National Theatre of Opera and ballet in Tirana, Albania.
Prof. Vasil Tole, vice-president of the Academy of Sciences of Albania and Dr. Darja Koter, professor at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, prepared the book in close cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Tirana and with the Adamič family. Translated into Albanian by Berishaj Nikolla, the book has been published by the Albanian National Center of Book and Reading in the cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Tirana and the Albanian Academy of Science. Translations into Slovenian and English are being planned in the future.
The book describes the life path of Bojan Adamič and his work in Albania in 1947, when he was sent as cultural aid in the field of music at the initiative of the then authorities. In his research, prof. Vasil Tole also mentions that Bojan Adamič is credited with the reestablishing of the Albanian symphony orchestra, the military choir, and the Opera and Ballet orchestra. The book presents an interesting story of the joint history of Yugoslavia and Albania and is the result and continuation of the international scientific symposium in 2022 in Tirana.
The initiative idea for the research on Adamic work in Albania, was initiated in 2021 by H.E. Peter Japelj, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in Tirana.
During the time of the research, many very important documents were discovered in the Archives of Yugoslavia Belgrade, which reveal the real background of Adamic’s work in Albania. Among other things, they also explain that he was chosen as cultural aid, for which the request came from Albania. A very important source of information is also his report he had sent to Belgrade in May 1947, in which he very concretely explains and analyzes the situation in the orchestra and beyond, which was supposed to help in the selection of new musicians in Yugoslavia at the time, who would be later on in 1947 sent to Albania.
In addition to the book, the life and work of Bojan Adamič in Albania in 1947, in the wider context of the conditions at that time, will also be presented in the documentary film Albanska Sonatina, which is being prepared for RTV Slovenia. The premiere is expected in Slovenia in the spring of 2024, and later also in Albania.

February 2022 – the initiative to prepare the book is given by H.E. Peter Japelj and Mrs. Elva Margariti, the then Minister of Culture in Albania.

March 2022 – Alenka Adamič presents the idea of the symposium and the book. To H.E. Pëllumb Quazmi, Ambassador of the Republic of Albania in Slovenia.

May 2022 – International professional symposium and exhibition on Bojan Adamič in Tirana, Albania. The papers describe Adamić’s life’s work with an emphasis on his professional help to Albanian musicians in the field of music.

May 2022 – Alenka Adamič at the event in Ljubljana entitled Let’s tell old Albanian-Slovenian stories presents her father’s work in Albania in 1947, as well as the initiative for the book and the documentary film.

April 2023 – Alenka Adamič and Natalija Gorščak present the idea of the book and the documentary film to H.E. Pëllumb Quazmi, Ambassador of the Republic of Albania in Slovenia H.E. Pëllumb Quazmi.

June 2023 – Meeting at the Albanian National Center of Book and Reading in Tirana. Prof. Vasil Tole presents the draft of the book to H.E. Petar Japelj and Mrs. Alda Bardhyla, the director of this center.

June 2023 – Alenka Adamič gets acquainted with the draft of the book in Tirana at a meeting at the Albanian National Center for Books and Reading, where she meets with Mrs. Aldi Bardhyli, the director of this center.

November 2023 – Alenka Adamič with her granddaughter Nia La Makuc Peljhan visits prof. Vasil Tole at the headquarters of the Academy of Sciences of Albania in Tirana, where prof. Tole introduces the book, at that time still on the computer.
